Pastured Poultry

Sirocco Ridge Farm offers pastured eggs.

Egg Flock-share and Custom Grown-Pullets

Flock-shares: We offer a limited number of CSA flock-shares for unprocessed eggs from our chickens.  For 10 months you will lease an undivided share of laying chickens, and have the right to a share of the eggs produced.  Based on our experience a share will likely average 1 dozen eggs every 2 weeks.  However, just like the farm itself, you may experience the cycles and risks of egg production.

About our hens, and humane and sustainable care:  Our chicken hens include a mix of heritage and modern breeds that produce many egg colors. Our hens are cage-free and have a chicken tractor (mobile layer house moved regularly) where they sleep, can lay eggs, and have water and supplemental food. We use our specially designed mobile tractor with chicken nest boxes above.  During the day they are free ranging, but roost in their tractor at night.  Our mixed flock of birds live within a large electric mesh fence we move weekly, to protect them from predators.  All birds have lived on the farm since they were day-old chicks, and have never been treated with antibiotics.  All birds come from US Approved Pullorum-Typhoid Clean hatcheries and are vaccinated for Marek’s disease.

As a flock-share member, you get: clean, unprocessed, sound-shelled, and unfertilized eggs.  Our interesting eggs vary in color, shape and size, but chicken eggs are usually large to extra-large.

Share are limited, and available first come first served.
